Saturday, the inevitable happened yet again. I broke another External HD. To be more precise, the second hard drive that I’ve busted — not on purpose, of course. I was doing some clean up around my desk and my hand, full of items that I was discarding, bumped into my large, rectangular shaped and upright HD, sending it over the edge and onto a side table beside it. The thing is, it was may a 6 inch fall, but it was enough to reduce it to a useless large, rectangular shaped and upright HD. I was upset for about 5 minutes, doing anything in my power to revive the damaged goods. This of course included jiggling the cable, propping the HD on its other side and unplugging and plugging after counting to 5, then 10 and so on. Useless. Yes, this is my second External HD. My third in total. My first one was stolen out of my friends truck downtown Victoria. I hope buddy enjoyed that. My second HD, a gift from a couple whose wedding I photographed in 2009, was victim to having the cable become loose and no longer be read. I can save that one, and while typing this; I probably should.
This is of course, something that happens. Lesson: External HD’s don’t skydive.
In the meantime, I’m in the early stages of getting my photography project into full swing. I was interviewed last week by one of the local newspapers and they did a nice little article about it as well, and an open call to those who would love to participate. The series is going to be titled ‘Faces of Industry’ and is going to be portraits of the men and women who work in our industrial parks, ranches, farms, etc. The faces of the people who keep this town operating. I live in a small town that has faced hardships in the past and it’s these jobs that keep our economy pumping. The jobs aren’t easy and sometimes deadly. I worked for a couple of years in an open pit copper mine myself and dealt with breathing in dust, reagents and nearly losing my own hand. This project is going to be a ‘hat’s off’ to those people and I’m hoping it will be a huge community success.
So, that’s pretty much it. Busted HD and a wicked portrait series on the way.
I usually post a photo or two — or 10. But nothing as of late. Developing rolls tomorrow though. Here’s some awesome new music that I’ve been listening to:
