Mapping the Escape

When working with a band before a show is never easy because they have so much stuff to get done before they can even think of photos. Gear, sound check, mingling, etc. I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted to do, but how to light it was difficult. I basically spent 15 minutes playing around with the light to see where it would be most effective and I’d be able to get all of their faces lit with out casting any harsh shadows. When the band came in, I told them where I wanted them and we went from there.

Waiting for the Man

Sarah Casault is a very talented make up artist and we first worked together a few months back on an Alice in Wonderland themed shoot. We’ve been trying to work again, but schedules kept conflicting. Sunday we were finally able to get our timing worked out and we collaborated on a great idea!

Three Days Grace

Last night I photographed Three Days Grace at the Save-On Memorial Center. I was hoping to catch The Used, and as I was brought through the back on the arena to obtain my photopass, I could hear Bert McKracken’s raspy voice beating the hallways. He was singing/screaming ‘Box Full of Sharp Objects’. I had to wait in the cold entrance of the arena with several other photographer from other publications. And when the time came, we were escorted into the ‘pit’, the band came on and after the first 3 songs, we were quickly escorted out. I guess I had fun?

The Umbrella

This was taken by my friend Allie in between shots. I’m the one holding the umbrella and saying something humorous to our model, Taylor. I love behind the scenes shots and Allie did a great job of capturing the moment. As you can tell I like to keep the set upbeat and positive.DSC_0100-2DSC_0101-2

Taylor

Yesterday I did a photoshoot with Taylor from the Coultish Agency. My friend Allie tagged along and took a few photos herself.DSC_0016-2DSC_0095-2
